UDAIPUR
Udaipur is also known as “City of Lakesâ€, Udaipur is situated on the middle of Delhi and Mumbai, and it is 700km drive away from Delhi. One can reach Udaipur by train or plain as well. In 1559, Udaipur gets founded by Maharana Udai SinghII, and it situated as final capital of Mewar Kingdom. In 1568, after the attack of Mughal emperor Akbar on Chittor, Mewars, shifted his capital to his residence, which become the city of Udaipur. After Akbar, Maharanas, oppose the Mughal domineance and recaptured the most of the area of Mewar, except Chittor. Maharana Mahendra Singh Mewar is the current ruler of Udaipur. In Udaipur there are many of beautiful lakes, and Pichola Lake is one of the widest lakes in the state. Due to these beautiful lakes, Udaipur is also popular among tourist as “Venice of East“. Lake Pichola, Fateh sagar Lake, Udai sagar and Swaroop sagar are considered some most beautiful lake in the state.

  1. CITY PALACE - The City Palace stands on a hill on the banks of Lake Pichola, surrounded by crenulated walls. The balconies of the city palace provide panoramic view of (Jag Niwas Lake Palace).
  2. JAGNIWAS (Lake Palace)- Lake Palace on Lake Pichola (formerly known as Jag Niwas) is a luxury hotel.
  3. JAGDISH TEMPLE - Built in 1651 AD by Maharana Jagat Singh I and dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the temple has an imposing 79 ft high pagoda covered with sculptures of dancers, musicians, elephants and horsemen.
  4. CRYSTAL GALLERY - The Crystal Gallery in Fateh Prakash Palace overlooks the grand Durbar Hall. It has a rare collection of Osler’s crystal ordered from England by Maharana Sajjan Singh in 1877.
  5. JAISAMAND LAKE - The Jaisamand Lake is renowned for being the second largest artificial freshwater lake in Asia.
    Located at a distance of 48 Km from the city of Udaipur.
  6. KUMBHALGARH - Kumbhalgarh is located 84 km North of Aravalli hills in Udaipur and houses the colossal Kumbhalgarh Fort – an important landmark of Mewar rulers.
  7. UDAIPUR SOLAR OBSERVATORY - Udaipur Solar Observatory (USO), situated on an island in the Fateh Sagar Lake, is considered as the best solar observing site in Asia.
    It is also among the few in the world that are situated on an island.
  8. NAGDA - Nagda is a small town located besides Bagela Lake at a distance of 23 km north-west of Udaipur on the way to Nathdwara.
    In the 6th century, Nagda was founded by Nagaditya, the fourth Mewar King.
